Ursa Minor Brewing is located on our farm in the wilds of the Lakes District in northern BC. With the help from friends and neighbours, we converted an old farm building into a small tasting room and brewhouse.
We are delighted that our daughters created the artwork for our labels, launched our website, and display a willingness to clean kegs! As a husband and wife team, we have worked together to create a farm-based microbrewery. With a love for inspired flavours, a dedication to sustainable farming, and a wish to collaborate with the exceptional people in our area, we have put our efforts into making beer with a unique northern vibe. Amazing flavours extracted from botanicals like hascap, raspberry, and juniper come right from our farm or our local area. We are psyched to be locally made and locally delivered to you! Order online, stop by our tasting room from May to October, or pick up a favourite at your local liquor store. Cheers, Nathan and Gwyn
ABOUT URSA MINOR
Wild Taste from a Wild Place! Ursa Minor Brewing became operational on June 1, 2020. A 4 year effort that ended with something we are very excited to share. One of our key ideas is to use locally grown ingredients like haskap, raspberry, juniper, spruce, cottonwood, potatoes, small grain crops, and rhubarb. The operation takes place at our farm called Little Bear Ranch. We are located on the shores of Ootsa Lake along Chief Louis Arm in the Lakes District. We are an hour and a half drive south of Burns Lake. We acknowledge that we are in the territory of the Cheslatta, Skin Tyhee, and NeeTahiBuhn nations.
Nathan and Gwyndolyn along with their two children have a strong love of the area and the community. Nathan brings a life-long passion for flavour, growing crops, and beer making. Gwyndolyn brings business experience from owning and operating a health food store for 10 years. Together they have a love for inspired taste, dedication to sustainable farming, and a wish to create a product that celebrates our North.
Our small tasting room/ on-site store will seat 8 people and we are very careful to be following Covid 19 safety protocols. Our tasting room will open from May to October. Visitors can sample our 5 main flavours and speciality beers as well as buy our craft beer. Beer can be ordered online through and we will deliver your order to you. Look for our products at our local rural agency stores, Takysie Lake Resort and Store and Grizzly Jim's and at the BC government liquor store in Burns Lake.
Ursa Minor Brewing intends to supply the market within our region that is currently underserved for local craft beer with competitively priced products. We will prioritize delivering to and supplying our closest communities first.
